Ormocana beauty queen Aura Shaznay Tumulak is among the lucky 40 candidates who will vie for the Miss World Philippines 2019 title as announced on Sunday, Aug. 4. The Miss World Philippines Organization unveiled the official roster via its Facebook page, sharing the official photos from the Philippine Pageantry.
Just a few minutes after the reveal, Aura took to Facebook to express her delight and shared details of the dress she donned during the final screening held at C3 Events Place in San Juan City, Metro Manila, that day. “Officially a #MissWorldPhilippines candidate! I’m grateful to wear one of Eric Pineda’s creations. A flowy colorful dress inspired by Philippines’ native delicacy, the sapin-sapin,” the Miss Ormoc 2019 titleholder wrote in a post.
“I like to think that the dress is much like a probinsyana, sweet like the sapin-sapin it drew inspiration from and light & carefree like its fabric. Don’t let those characteristics fool you, though, because THIS probinsyana is ready to take the challenge of representing Ormoc!” Aura added.
For starters, Aura is an urban and rural agriculture advocate, who established an organization that seeks to empower households in the city to practice gardening to ensure food sustainability.
“It’s named after me, AURA–The Association of Urban-Rural Agriculturists. I’d like to elevate this at the local level and promote this to our mayor and congresswoman because we aim to empower and encourage each marginalized household to plant for their own food sustainability, and I believe that if I am given a chance to become Miss Ormoc, then I could truly make this a reality,” she said during the Miss Ormoc 2019 pageant’s preliminary Question & Answer portion.
Aside from Aura, the Miss World Philippines 2019’s official list of candidates also include Katrina Llegado, Jacqueline Hammoude, Sheila Marie Reyes, Michelle Arceo, Patrisha Kamille Gutierrez, Justienne Ortega, Alyssa Joreen Reyes, Kimberley Hakenson, Sharmane Galisanao, Glyssa Perez, Jean Tumang, Sharielle Yanson, Julie Ann Forbes, Patricia Gutierrez, Julie Mae Mendoza, Kelley Day, Isabella De Leon, Patricia Ann Tan, Gerlaine Silva, Ruffa Nava, Ednalyn Gunio, Rose Ann Ignacio, Kristi Celyn Banks, Michelle Marquez Dee, Shannon Kerver, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Sammie Anne Legaspi, Hannah Therese Cruz, Joanna Camelle Mercado, Louise Theunis, Kayesha Chu, Mary Daena Ressureccion, Michelle Thorlund, Tracy Maureen Perez, Ilene De Vera, and Vanessa Walters.
