Sherlock Season 5 has not been confirmed to be happening yet up to this writing. Devoted followers of the famous BBC Crime drama television series have been clamoring about it for quite some time already. So, will Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman still return for another installment?

Fortunately, both English actors expressed interest in reprising their respective roles for Sherlock Season 5. Martin Freeman said, in a recent interview, that fans should not lose hope for having another installment in the future is still possible.

“They’re few and far between, the discussions about Sherlock, just because Mark [Gatiss] and Steven [Moffat], the writers, and Benedict [Cumberbatch] and I, are all lucky enough to be not only working on stuff that we like and are interested in, but we know what Sherlock is,” Martin, who portrayed as the sidekick of Benedict Cumberbatch character in the series, stated in a new interview with Collider when asked about Sherlock Season 5.

“You don’t look that gift horse in the mouth ’cause that sort of stuff doesn’t happen very often, in someone’s life. It’s a huge, huge, worldwide hit, and way beyond anything we could’ve imagined,” the 47-year-old star added. Martin Freeman even shared that the series should beat its fourth season should it return for another installment, saying: “We couldn’t come back with something that was quite good. It would have to feel really, really special. It was that kind of show.”

Even Benedict Cumberbatch expressed his willingness to return as Detective Sherlock Holmes if the BBC network decides to renew the series. Speaking with NY Daily News in 2018, the 43-year-old husband of Sophie Hunter said fans should never say never. He divulged that one of the many reasons behind the delay of Sherlock Season 5 is the hectic schedules of the series cast and co-creators.

At the moment, series co-creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat are working on the Dracula series. While the pair had initial discussions on what should be tackled in Sherlock Season 5, they do not have the time to sit down and work on it right now. They, too, want to focus on their current projects.

At the moment, Benedict Cumberbatch is said to be working on the Doctor Strange 2 movie while Martin Freeman is expected to make a comeback in Black Panther 2. Stay tuned to News Everyday for more Sherlock Season 5 spoilers, predictions, theories, news, and updates!
